Good to hear – thanks for the great work so far!
Thanks for reading Bennett.
Will you also be doing hardware guides?
We are always open to anything. What exactly would you like to see us do? Custom HTPC builds?
Feel free to use this as a forum for ideas! Thanks for reading.
Glad to have you back! Using your guides, I cut the cord a few months ago (with the exception of HSI, of course. I now have SABnzbd, Sickbeard, and Couch Potato feeding a steady diet of entertainment to my Plex server. I’m saving over $150 a month, and am loving it… I’ll be around for sure!
Jay, thanks for reading! Really happy to hear about the success you had cord-cutting. Stories like yours make the effort that goes into this site worthwhile.
Be sure to stick around. We are hard at work generating new ideas for more content.
Check out Plex’s new DVR in beta. Requires a HDHomeRun
I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I am currently looking at getting a Comcast business account, as I am using about 400 gigs a month. I’ve been trying to keep downloading under control as much as possible to prepare for the caps, but I could pretty easily double that 400GB per month. We have a family of four to entertain! lol If you think more folks would be interested in an article exploring the pros and cons of switching to business class, I’d be all ears!
Hey Jay, we understand your concern. Can you bring us up to speed on the current situation with Comcast? Is it true that the 250gig cap is temporarily off until the release of new internet packages? From what we know, as of now, the new internet packages are only available in 2 markets. What is the price on the lowest business class package? 59.99?
Yes, currently the caps have been suspended, which is great. It does appear that they are holding off on enforcing them until they can get the new plans all worked out. In my area- around Seattle, the lowest plan is indeed $59.99 a month for 16/3, or $99.99 a month for 27/7 on the business plans. The business plans do not have caps at all, and allow you to run mail servers, etc. A contract for the business plans is needed however. I’ve heard between 1-3 years.
On thinking about it more, I guess it would make more sense to delve into this topic once they finalize everything, and we know what the residential caps will look like. I
really love this website. I’ve been a usenet user for about 10 years, and never realized how painless the process could be before I ran into the guides on this site!
Keep up the great work. : D
Happy to provide new content. Charles.
Hello, glad there are still HTPC lovers! I want to upgrade my rig, is there a forum where I can ask for advice?
Awesome! I just happened to come back today to read this good news! 🙂 I’m looking to do a cloud server incorporating everything via Ubuntu 16.04 and docker. Hopefully I can put the pieces together.
Looking forward to new guide maybe using SABNZB+ , Sonarr and Radarr
